Giving my face to facebook

Ok, here is the deal.

This is probably just my personal journal on marketing on facebook.

Maybe its more like marketing on the web in general. I don't know. I am not an expert in this category - marketing, at all. But I have setup a company website - complete with blogs and forums, that doesn't seems to go anywhere, as 'web community' goes. And I want this to work.

On a tight budget, of course, so advertising is kept to downright minimum - zero! Of course, the website has the 'paid' side that have been doing 'ok', but that is because of 'manual/ traditional' marketing.

So, I have heard so many things about marketing on Facebook - tapping into an online social network. And its time we give this a check.

So, my 1st goal here for this blog, is to do just that - to reach a target fans of 500 within 1 year's time. I know the number is quite low by many's standard. But the target market is quite niche, and so is the area location, a small Asian country that still has a relatively low broadband connection.

I started the Page for it on Facebook on Jan 17th, 2010, and I have 29 fans. So after 28 days - only 29 fans. And 9 of those are from my office! Very bad indeed :(

Worry not. I have 11 more months to find another 471 fans!

Goal: By Jan17th 2011, 12 midnight, I will have 500 fans! Yay!
